Identification of Infants and High-Risk Children Eligible for RSV Prevention Programs

Last Update October 9, 2025

RSV is a leading cause of respiratory illness in infants and young children. As the winter season approaches, it’s vital to protect vulnerable groups, especially infants and high-risk children, to reduce their risk of severe illness.

OntarioMD (OMD) has designed the OMD Infant RSV Toolkit that includes searches and queries for Accuro® EMR, OSCAR Pro, and TELUS PS Suite (PSS) EMR to assist clinicians in identifying infants born on or after April 1, 2025 and less than 8 months of age and high-risk children under the age of 2 who may be eligible for RSV vaccine. The TELUS PSS toolkit also includes  toolbars with reminders and a stamp.

NOTE: It is important to verify the accuracy of the patient list, use clinical judgement to assess which vaccines should be administered, and to devise a plan to schedule appointments for infants and children who are eligible for the RSV vaccine.
