OMD Cervical Screening Tools – OSCAR Pro

As of March 3, 2025, Ontario’s cervical screening guidelines have changed to recommend that individuals aged 25 and older undergo primary human papillomavirus (HPV) testing every five years, replacing the previous Pap test protocol. This shift aims to enhance early detection and prevention of cervical cancer by utilizing the increased sensitivity of HPV testing.

OntarioMD (OMD) has developed cervical cancer screening queries inclusive of HPV for Accuro® to assist clinicians with identifying eligible patients and managing cervical cancer screening activities based on the new guidelines.

NOTES:

  • It is important to verify the accuracy of patient lists.
  • Report by Templates (RbTs):
    • Leveraging data from the Preventions module, the RbTs generate lists of active patients who are due, overdue, ineligible, or have refused cervical screening.
    • Report considers the ‘Set Next Date’ feature from the Preventions module. 
    • Do NOT include criteria for high-risk patients recorded outside of the Preventions module.
    • Do NOT check for abnormal or rejected results – providers must flag these within the Preventions module.
    • Do NOT account for special considerations or exceptions – providers must flag these and follow up separately.
